Wall Street Posts Small Gains, Unemployment Claims Down

tarabird/iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Wall Street finished its last trading session before Christmas on a positive note, with small gains, just one day after a pair of record closes.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 6.04 to close at a new record close of 18030.21.
The Nasdaq climbed 8.05 to 4773.47, while S&P 500 close at 2081.88, down 0.29 from Tuesday’s all-time high.
The Labor Department reported fewer unemployment claims last week, with 280,000 Americans filing for unemployment benefits. The previous week’s figure did not need revision and remained at 289,000.
