The deal involved the Clippers, Boston Celtics, and Phoenix Suns. The Celtics traded Rivers to the Clippers and received swingman Chris Douglas-Roberts and a 2017 second-round draft pick. The C’s also get forward Shavlik Randolph from the Suns — all of that creating a $2.4 million trade exception.

According to ESPN.com, the Clippers will waive guard Jordan Farmar to create the roster room needed for the deal.

Rivers was traded to the Celtics on Monday as part of the deal that sent Jeff Green to the Memphis Grizzlies. ESPN reports the Celtics told Rivers he didn’t need to report to Boston, and they would find a way to trade him to the Clippers.

Rivers will become the first son to play for his dad in league history when he takes the court for the Clippers, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The 22-year-old Rivers has played in 35 games this season, averaging 6.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
