Boxing Legend Muhammad Ali Released from Hospital, Recovered from Infection

Photo by Michael Kovac/Getty Images(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) — Boxing legend Muhammad Ali was released from the hospital on Tuesday night, just over a week ahead of his 73rd birthday.

Ali underwent testing and was observed by doctors who determined that he was suffering from a severe urinary tract infection. He had initially been thought to have pneumonia.

Ali has fully recovered and is resting at home, a statement from the Ali family spokesman said. “The Ali family greatly appreciates the outpouring of support and continued well wishes,” it continued.

Ali was initially hospitalized on December 20.
