“Cabaret” Star Joel Grey Comes Out as Gay

Jennifer Graylock/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) — Oscar- and Tony Award-winning actor Joel Grey has come out as gay.
Grey, best known for his award-winning role as the MC in both stage and film versions of Cabaret, opened up to People magazine, saying, “I don’t like labels, but if you have to put a label on it, I’m a gay man.”
While he’s never publicly discussed his sexuality before, he says people close to him have known for years “who I am.”
“[Yet] it took time to embrace that other part of who I always was,” he adds.
Grey was married to actress Jo Wilder for 24 years. They have two children together: actress Jennifer Grey and son James, a chef.
On his Facebook page, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg, who is married to Jennifer Grey, enthused, “Congratulations to my brilliant dad-in-law @JoelGrey Could not love you more.”
Joel Grey’s more recent credits include the TV series CSI, Nurse Jackie, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice.
