The film stars Oscar winner Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, the scientist who became the titular hero years ago after he discovers the ability to shrink to insect size and back again. Paul Rudd co-stars as Scott Lang, a father and “master thief” who Pym urges to take up the Ant-Man mantle.

The two-minute teaser shown Tuesday night is short on major details, but it does show Lang shrinking down to bug size and back, fighting baddies, and even riding on the back of a flying ant, as Lang’s suit enables him to control insects as well.

Marvel has said Pym, a “founding Avengers member,” mentors Lang and together the unlikely pair, “must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”

Perhaps taking a cue from the sense of humor that fit so well for the trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, this latest teaser isn’t short on the snark. “Scott,” Douglas urges in the trailer, “I need you to be the Ant-Man.”

“One question,” Rudd’s character answers. “Is it too late to change the name?”

Ant-Man, which is being released by ABC News’ parent company Disney, also stars Evangeline Lilly, Judy Greer, and Michael Pena. The film opens July 17.
