Rondo, who was traded to Dallas last month, also had six rebounds and five assists for the Mavericks (24-10) which have now won four straight.

Rondo received a standing ovation from the Boston fans before the game. Then the Celtics played a video tribute to the point guard after the first quarter that ended with a picture of Rondo hugging the Larry O’Brien Trophy from when the Celtics won the 2008 Championship, along with the caption, ” Thank You Rajon!”

“Obviously, it was a special day,” Rondo said. “I’m emotionally tired. I’m physically tired, and I’m drained.”

Monta Ellis scored 22 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 17 and seven rebounds in the win.

Avery Bradley led the Celtics (11-19) with 22 points.
