Gary Kubiak, former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator and Houston Texans head coach, has agreed to a four-year deal with the Denver Broncos, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport.

The team is expected to announce the hiring at a press conference Tuesday. The Denver Post first reported the story.

Kubiak, 53, was the backup quarterback to team president John Elway from 1983 to 1991 with the Broncos. The two have a close relationship, and Elway expects Kubiak to implement a similar offensive style that relies on a strong zone running game, which helped the Broncos win their two Super Bowls in 1998 and 1999.

While head coach of the Houston Texans, Kubiak amassed a record of 61-64, but led the team to their first two playoff victories and two seasons of 10-plus wins.
