Toyota Remains World’s Biggest Auto Manufacturer
Published at(NEW YORK) — Toyota is the world’s biggest auto manufacturer for the third year in a row.
The Japanese automaker announced on Wednesday that it sold 10.23 million vehicles worldwide in 2014, up 3 percent from the previous year.
By comparison, Volkswagen — the runner-up — sold 10.14 million vehicles worldwide last year. General Motors came in third place with 9.92 million.
But Toyota could snap its sales streak this year. The company predicts global sales will fall 1 percent in 2015, partly due to a projected 9 percent drop in sales in Japan.
