The Group of Ten Ambassadors, representing the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union called on the parties involved to “implement an immediate and enduring ceasefire.”

According to the U.S. Embassy in Yemen, a group called Ansar Allah have claimed responsibility for the abduction of Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak, the secretary of the National Dialogue Secretariat and the head of the President’s Office. BBC News reports that a cease-fire has taken place in the capital city following clashes between the Presidential Guard and a rebel group.

Senior U.S. military officials say that there was “no specific planning underway” to evacuate the embassy. While another official said that they believe the embassy is in no immediate danger, “the situation remains tenuous.”
