Bucs Cut Ties with QB McCown

(TAMPA BAY, Fl.) — One year after signing Josh McCown, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have tossed the quarterback off the port bow.
The team announced Wednesday that they released McCown the year after they agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract.
McCown started 11 games for Tampa Bay, completing 56.3% of his passes for 2,206 yards and 11 touchdowns while committing 18 turnovers.
The Buccaneers had hoped that McCown would show a similar flair to that of his 2013 season with the Chicago Bears, when found success throwing to the towering Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. In Tampa, McCown couldn’t find a similar rhythm with Vincent Jackson and rookie Mike Evans.
Currently, Mike Glennon is the only quarterback on Bucs’ roster who has regular season experience. According to Pewter Report’s Scott Reynolds, the team may be willing to trade Glennon for a fourth round pick.
Tampa Bay possesses the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, and a report from ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas suggests the team will take Florida State’s Jameis Winston.
