And for a second consecutive year, he’ll be on a trip to Palm Springs — one of his favorite destinations over the past couple years — playing golf and bro-ing out with high-school buddies.

Obama landed on the West Coast on Thursday to attend the White House’s cybersecurity summit at Stanford, and he traveled on to Palm Springs Saturday, where he’ll stay at a private residence without the first family, according to the White House, until Monday, when he’ll return to D.C.

Though the first couple is apart once again, the first lady tweeted a Valentine’s Day message to the president, and the President wished his wife the same in his weekly address.

Strangely enough, President Obama was doing almost the exact same thing at this time last year.

He flew to Palm Springs for a meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan at Sunnylands, the sprawling estate, retreat, and golf course that has hosted presidents and dignitaries for high-level meetings through the decades.

The president stayed around for a few days, playing golf at Sunnylands with Hawaii friends Bobby Titcomb, Greg Orme, and Michael Ramos on Feb. 15 and 17, with a round at then-Oracle-CEO Larry Ellison’s private course in between.

Saturday, immediately after Air Force One touched down at the Palm Springs airport, Obama’s motorcade drove directly to Sunnylands, where the president played a round of golf with the same three friends.
