Over 100 Reported Dead in Afghanistan Avalanches
Published at(KABUL, Afghanistan) — At least 100 people were killed in a series of avalanches Wednesday in central Afghanistan.
Abdul Rahman Kabiri, governer of the central Panjshir province, told ABC News the avalanches were caused by heavy snowfall in the area and destroyed around 100 homes.
As a result of the avalanches, 51 people are missing so far and 15 others are reported trapped on a mountain that needs emergency evacuation, according to Kabiri.
