(11) UCLA Advances to the Sweet 16

Ethan Miller/Getty Images(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) — When the Selection Committee announced that UCLA would be making the NCAA Tournament as an 11 seed, many questioned the selection. Fast forward a week, and the Bruins are going to the Sweet 16.
On Saturday afternoon, UCLA took down (14) UAB, 92-75.
“The selection committee thought we were good enough to play in this tournament, and I think we proved it,” forward Tony Parker said.
Parker led all scorers with 28 points and 12 rebounds while forward Kevin Looney scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
“There’s no better time to do that than March,” UCLA coach Steve Alford said.
UAB just couldn’t stop the Bruins offense as they allowed UCLA to shoot 60.3% from the floor, and 55.6% from the three-point line.
UCLA has a tough task ahead of them if they to advance to the Elite 8. Next up they’ll take on number 2 seed Gonzaga.
