According to Schefter, the 27-year-old Mathews will receive $5 million guaranteed.

Mathews helps take the place of running back LeSean McCoy, who the Eagles officially traded to the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

Mathews, who the San Diego Chargers selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, has played a full 16 game regular season only once during his five years in the league.

During his five seasons with the Chargers, Mathews has rushed for 4,061 yards, averaging 4.4 yards per carry, and 23 touchdowns. He’s also caught 146 balls, for 1,110 yards and a touchdown.

Knee and ankle injuries hampered Mathews last season. He played in eight games, rushing for 330 yards and three touchdowns.
