The Broncos are expected to use the franchise tag on Demaryius Thomas, according to the Denver Post. Furthermore, the team will use the “nonexclusive” tag, which means Thomas is free to negotiate with other teams, but the Broncos can match any offer or the signing team must compensate Denver with two first-round picks.

Under the franchise tag, Thomas is expected to be paid $12.797 million. Thomas had been receiving an average of $2.8 million per year under his rookie contract.

Thomas, 27, has caught at least 92 passes each of the last three seasons while totaling at least 1,400 yards through the air. He has also posted double-digit touchdowns in all three years. Last season, he set the Bronco’s single-season record with 1,619 yards receiving.
