Carrasco’s new deal will pay him through the 2018 season while also including club options for the 2019 and 2020 season.

This is quite the career turnaround for Carrasco, who at one point was an after-thought for the team. He was highly regarded pitching prospect during his time with the Philadelphia Phillies, and was the centerpiece in the deal sending Cliff Lee to Philadelphia in July 2009.

Toiling back and forth from the rotation and bullpen, Carrasco seemed to figure things out last season as he went 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA in 14 starts and 26 appearances out of the bullpen.

In a 10-start stretch for hte Indians from August-September, he went 5-3 with a 1.30 ERA along with 90 strikeouts in 69.0 innings.
