Arizona Cardinals Hires First Female Coach
Published at | Updated at(TEMPE, Ariz.) — Taking another step toward incorporating women into male-dominated professional sports, the Arizona Cardinals Football Club announced Monday that they’ve hired a woman to be a coach intern.
A press release from the Arizona Cardinals Football Club states that Dr. Jen Welter “is believed to be the first woman to hold a coaching position of any kind in the NFL.”
Dr. Welter will be a staff member of the Cardinals coaches during training camp and the preseason.
She is expected to be formally introduced at a news conference on Tuesday.
