Eagle Dentist Admits to Illegal Drug Use

(EAGLE, ID) – A dentist from Eagle has admitted to obtaining illegal drugs by writing false prescriptions. 37-year-old Rahil Akhtar, who worked for a dental clinic in Meridian, faces one felony charge of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. Akhtar is accused of writing more than 90 prescriptions to obtain more than 2,500 doses of drugs containing hydrocodone, which he used himself. He could spend up to four years in a federal prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 29.
