2 men accused of attacking, injuring Blackfoot police officers

BLACKFOOT – Two men are in custody after allegedly attacking police officers responding to a battery call Sunday morning.

According to a news release, Blackfoot police officers were called to an event center around 2:16 a.m. When they arrived, investigators said they were attacked by a portion of the crowd.

Police said uniforms were damaged, equipment was forcibly removed from duty belts and some officers received minor injuries.

Daniel Hernandez Mendoza, 43 of Idaho Falls, was charged with felony battery on an officer and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing. Ricky Luis Mendoza, 22 of Idaho Falls was charged with misdemeanor battery and resisting and obstructing.

Police say one suspect was tased twice and taken to Bingham Memorial Hospital.
