Florida Residents Brace for Erika’s Remnant Heavy Rains
Published at | Updated at(TAMPA, Fla.) — Tropical Storm Erika may be done, but she’s left behind big rains that are headed for Florida.
Residents in the Sunshine State are hoping to stave off any flooding from the heavy rains expected to arrive as soon as Monday.
“We have some sandbags already set up, but figured we might need some more, so, not take any chances,” Tampa resident Ali McLaughlin told ABC News.
More rain is the last thing Florida needs. The state is already in it’s third wettest August in recorded history.
While flash flood warnings have been cancelled for the southern region of the state, a flash flood watch remains in effect for central and northern Florida, as well as southern Georgia, until Monday evening.
