REXBURG — Highland High School won the battle of the undefeated by slipping by Madison High School 23 to 22 in a battle of two of the top ranked boys football teams in the state.

Highland took a 13 to 7 lead into halftime only to see Madison score 15 unanswered points in the third period. But the mistakes of the Bobcats in the fourth quarter stopped Madison’s scoring. A high snap over the head of the punter that was covered in the end zone by the Rams and a 37 yard field goal after a Madison turnover allowed Highland to take the 23 to 22 lead for the final score.

Madison had a chance to win the game on two catches by Mason Downey to move the ball with under two minutes to go. A catch in the end zone by Zack Anderson that was ruled out of bounds and a blocked field goal by Highland with 10 seconds to go in the game, kept the Rams undefeated.
