Published at | Updated at(ATLANTA) — The Atlanta Braves shipped out shortstop Andrelton Simmons on Thursday after days of rumblings that the gold-glove winner was on the trading block.
ESPN reports that the Braves will send Simmons to the Los Angeles Angels in return for Angels shortstop Erick Aybar and two of Los Angeles’ top pitching prospects.

Simmons, 26, struggled somewhat offensively in 2015, but remained one of the standout defensive players at his position. Coming off of consecutive seasons in which he won the Gold Glove, awarded to the best fielder at each position, Simmons lost the award to San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford this season.
Aybar has spent his entire 10-year career in Los Angeles, appearing in one All-Star Game and winning a Gold Glove of his own. Also head to Atlanta will be minor league pitchers Sean Newcomb and Christopher Ellis, according to ESPN.
