IDAHO FALLS — A 24-year-old man is behind bars after police say he beat up his girlfriend during a violent encounter.

Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said neighbors called police after hearing concerning sounds. Mackenzie R. Bischoff was arrested for felony domestic battery in the presence of a child, felony malicious injury to property, attempted strangulation, battery and two Bannock County warrants following the incident on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Police reports show officers responded to the 500 block of South Old Butte Road around 5:15 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. A police investigation revealed Bischoff allegedly pushed, pinned and grabbed the throat of a 27‐year‐old live in girlfriend during the presence of three children.

Police say Bischoff also damaged several doors, pieces of furniture, toys and household items during the disturbance. He’s also accused of punching his 21‐year‐old neighbor during the incident.

Hansen said officers observed visual bruises on victim.

Bischoff of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
