IDAHO FALLS — A St. Anthony man was arrested early Wednesday morning after investigators say he failed to stop for a police officer.

Nathan Barney, 23, was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on felony eluding charges.

Idaho Falls police officers say they tried to stop a red Pontiac Grand Am being driven by Barney for a traffic violation at Skyline and Broadway around 2:30 a.m. Barney failed to stop, according to investigators, and continued on Skyline where he eventually turned east onto Grandview.

Barney is then accused of running a red light at Grandview and the Interstate 15 interchange.

An officer eventually spotted the vehicle at Elmore and Micro about five minutes later. Police tried to stop Barney again, but investigators say he refused to pull over.

Officers say they turned off their overhead lights after Barney began running stop signs and speeding up to about 60 mph on Ada.

Police report they later found the vehicle parked in an alley near Canal between K and L streets.

Barney and a female passenger were found hiding outside near a residence.

Barney was taken into custody and the passenger was released.
