Two skiers killed in Jackson Hole avalanche

The following is a news release from the Teton County Wyoming Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSON HOLE — On January 24, 2016 at approximately 2:30 PM the Teton County Communication Center received a call from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort that there was an avalanche in the Ralph Slide area.

Ski Patrol went out to investigate. Ski Patrol reported there were three people in the party, with only one accounted for. Teton County Search and Rescue was called in to assist with the search.

Search began for the two missing skiers (a white 46 year old male from Australia and a white 36 year old female from Arizona). The searchers located the two missing skiers. The skiers were pronounced deceased at the scene. The two bodies were released to the Teton County Coroner’s Office for further investigation and notification of family.

Teton County Sheriff’s Office encourages people to pay attention to changing avalanche conditions as we enjoy outdoor activities.
