BLACKFOOT, Idaho — Asking law enforcement to check on your home while you’re out of town can pay off in a big way, the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jimmy Griffith, 44, of Ririe, and Robert Poletti, 46, of Idaho Falls, were arrested Wednesday, Jan. 6, on suspicion of felony burglary after a deputy noticed a vehicle at the house on the 400 block of West 211 North that wasn’t supposed to be there.

Sheriff Craig T. Rowland told EastIdahoNews.com the suspects were found on the property with stolen items. Investigators are checking into whether this burglary is linked to others in the surrounding area.

Rowland said the homeowners had asked authorities to keep an eye on their home while they were away.

“If you are going to go out of town for several days, all you have to do is call the dispatch center and have an extra watch put on your house, and we will gladly check on it several times a shift depending on our workload,” according to the news release.

Rowland said bonds have not been set for the two suspects. Court records on the case were unavailable Thursday afternoon.
