IDAHO FALLS — Bonneville County Sheriff deputies tasered a man wanted on an outstanding warrant after a slow-speed pursuit Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Investigators say they stopped Manual Cordova, 25, in the area of Custer and McKenzie Ave. around 1:15 a.m. Contact was made with Cordova and as the deputy returned to his patrol car, detectives say Cordova fled in his vehicle and failed to yield.

According to deputies, Cordova never went more than 15 miles per hour and continued to a nearby address on Ricks Street. He pulled into a driveway and investigators say he attempted to enter the residence – later found to belong to a relative.

Two deputies say they gave Cordova multiple commands to stop and when he did not, they attempted to take him into custody. Investigators say Cordova fought with the deputies and one was forced to deploy a Taser.

Cordova was taken into custody and found to have an outstanding warrant out of Fremont County. Deputies say he was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of methamphetamine.

Both deputies suffered minor injuries and one was struck in the throat by the suspect, but they did not require medical attention at that scene.

Cordova and was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on the Fremont County warrant along with eluding an officer, battery on an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony possession of methamphetamine.
