Traffic impacted on 17th Street in Idaho Falls after water main break

The following is a news release from the city of Idaho Falls.

IDAHO FALLS — The Public Works Department is currently working on repairing a water main break on 17th Street just west of Jennie Lee Drive. Traffic flows will be impacted.

A few businesses on the south side of 17th Street, including DL Evans Bank, Starbucks, Les Schwab and Taco Bell were without water for a short time. Water was restored to those businesses at approximately 8 a.m.

East-bound traffic has been reduced to one lane in the center turn lane.

At this point, it is believed that shifting soil due to cold temperatures caused the breakage.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, crews will have the repair and patch work complete by later this morning.

Please watch for equipment and workers and follow all traffic signs and flaggers.
