IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls Police Department is pleased to announce Amy Lewis as the recipient of the 2015 “Dispatcher of the Year” Award.

Lewis was honored at the Idaho Falls Bonneville 911 Center Thursday evening.

“Amy is an amazing dispatcher,” 911 Center Manager Andi Anderson said. “She’s a team player, always has a positive attitude and truly cares about citizens, responders and her co‐workers. We’re lucky to have her at our center.”

Lewis, who started at the center in September 2014, was selected as “Dispatcher of the Year” by her peers. Many of them noted she is professional, helps co‐workers constantly, goes above and beyond and brings laughter to the room.

Lewis is married and enjoys spending time with children and being outdoors.

The “Dispatcher of the Year” is awarded annually during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
National Public Safety Telecommunications Week is designed to raise awareness about the hard work and dedication of 911 dispatchers and other telecommunications staff. These include the technicians that maintain radio and emergency phone systems, those who train communications staff and the supervisors and managers of communications centers across the country.

“Dispatchers play an essential role in our department,” Idaho Falls Police Chief Mark McBride said. “We are fortunate to have so many dedicated, professional and expert dispatchers at our center responding to citizens and our first‐responders.”
