POCATELLO — A 28-year-old man was arrested on three felonies warrants Tuesday, including enticing a child from out-of-state.

Daniel O. Stroud, who was placed on felony probation last month in Idaho for illegally possessing a firearm, but was arrested by Pocatello Police on new charges on Tuesday.

Police spokeswoman Diane Brush said Stroud had been under surveillance by police for some time in regards to a forgery investigation. While attempting to arrest the man at the Fred Myer on Yellowstone Ave., police say Stroud resisted.

“There was a brief struggle between officers and Shroud,” Brush told EastIdahoNews.com. “But officers were able to quickly detain him.”

Police say Stroud stole checks from his roommate and later forged those checks in an cumulative amount greater than $1,000.

Prior to his arrest on Tuesday, Wisconsin authorities contacted Pocatello Police about alleged crimes of enticing a child through the internet. Police were able to obtain enough evidence from Wisconsin to charge Stroud for the crime in Idaho.

“The enticing a child charge is believed to have originated within Idaho,” Brush told EastIdahoNews.com. “That’s why he was charged with it here.”

Stroud was arrested and booked in the Bannock County Detention Center on three felony charges: grand theft, forgery and enticing a child. He was also charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest. He is currently being held without bond.

Stroud has a significant criminal record in Georgia. He was arrested in July 2009 on four felony burglary charges that took place on The University of Georgia campus. He was later arrested in June 2013 for forgery in Bibb County, Georgia.
