IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls Police arrested 30‐year‐old Bernadette L. Nugent for vehicle theft, felony malicious injury to property, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and assault on a health care worker late Saturday night.

The Ucon woman was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

Police reports show officers responded to the 1300 block of Paul Street for a report of a stolen vehicle around 10:45 p.m. Officers learned Nugent had allegedly stolen a 2001 Chevy Silverado from the 800 block of John Adams.

The truck owner and his friend saw Nugent stealing the truck. They got into a 2007 Chevy Tahoe and followed her to the 1300 block of Paul. Nugent had come to a stop on the grass and the truck owner and friend pulled in behind her. Nugent attempted to drive away and backed into the Chevy Tahoe causing an estimated $1,000 damage to both vehicles.

The truck owner and friend pulled Nugent out of the truck and detained her until law enforcement arrived.

Officers arrived. They determined Nugent was under the influence. They transported her to the hospital where she became uncooperative, disruptive and kicked a nurse.
