The following is a news release from the city of Idaho Falls.

UPDATE — This event has been postponed because of weather.

IDAHO FALLS — Looking for a free family fun event this weekend? Join the Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation Department and the Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMPO) for a Fun Family Adventure Bike Ride. Prizes are valued at over $1,000, including three bikes!

Bring the family down to Snake River Landing this Saturday, May 21. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the event starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends back at Snake River Landing at noon. No pre-registration is required, and the event is free for the entire family!

The adventure begins by giving all participants clues to strategically placed raffle tickets along the River Walk and through downtown Idaho Falls. Once riders have found their tickets, they will receive their next clue and be on their way to the next stop.

A shorter route is available for beginners and families with younger children, and a longer route is available for more conditioned riders. After participants solve all of their clues, they will return to the pier in Snake River Landing and place their raffle tickets into a drawing for prizes.

“The Adventure Ride is a great way to acclimate beginner cyclists to the Idaho Falls trail system while providing the more seasoned rides with another opportunity to get out and ride and enjoy the many improvements along the River Walk,” says PJ Holm, Recreation Superintendent for the City of Idaho Falls. “A hardy thanks goes out to our co-hosts and sponsors who helped make this event possible,” adds Holm.

This fun biking event is part of National Bike Month and is sponsored and co-hosted by the Idaho Falls Civitan Club, Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department, BMPO, Idaho Falls Community Pathways, Snake River Landing, Bill’s Bike and Run, Idaho Mountain Trading and Dave’s Bike Shop.

The City of Idaho Falls is also hosting the Mayors’ Family Bike Ride on Monday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. This biking event is also free and open to the public. The ride will begin at the falls overlook on River Parkway.

Participants are encouraged to bring helmets, sunscreen and water to both biking events.
