Casual Custom joins the Main Street scene in downtown Driggs

DRIGGS — The newest storefront in downtown Driggs showcases a wall of trucker hats featuring local artists’ designs and Teton motifs. stickers, mugs, and baby onesies decorated with one of a kind mountain images, wildlife, and Idaho pride line the tables. Much more than a tourist t-shirt shop, Casual Custom has opened its doors at 37 N. Main Street.

Since launching in 2012, originally in their Wallace Ave location, the screen printing and customization business has grown enough to now stock products in a storefront. For shoppers, that means a greater retail selection of Teton memorabilia and unique designs. For local artists, the store is an opportunity to get their work out to the community.

“Basically, we customize things, whether it’s for artists, events, sports teams, or businesses,” said owner Alison Emerson. “We can run six of something or even just a sample to see what the design looks like.” Unlike many screen printing and customization companies, Casual Custom has the means to do small runs of a custom designed product without a big investment.

Alison and co-owner James Fitzgerald plan to become an integral part of the downtown community. “We are very invested in Driggs and its retail economy,” she said. They plan on hosting many events, including live music and art walks. Last spring, they hosted a successful skateboard show.

Casual Custom’s first event will be the Grand Opening and Customer Appreciation party on June 4 from 5 – 8 p.m. in conjunction with the Driggs Art Walk. “We know people don’t have to buy local and we want to give back to everyone who has made us a success,” Alison said. The event will include complimentary food and beverages and live music.
