IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls mother, like many, found joy in dressing her baby in charming pieces. Kali Galbraith not only enjoyed styling outfits, but found most of her fun came from creating eye-catching dresses for her 6-month-old daughter.

“People asked me where I got them and (wanted) to have me make them for them,” Galbraith said.

From her crafty homemade pieces came Melon Monkeys an online clothing store for kids coordinated outfits. Galbraith designs custom clothes with matching elements from infants up to 12-years-old and sells them through Etsy.com. Her work was recently featured on Studio 5 with Brooke Walker in Salt Lake City.

“It mostly just started from having fun dressing my baby in fun things,” Galbraith said.

Galbraith, who is a mother of four, loves having her kids in the same color scheme without wearing the exact same items of clothing.

She said the more age division there is between kids the harder it is to find clothes that coordinate. Galbraith hopes the Melon Monkey’s clothing will mend that issue, especially when it comes to family photos.

“I wanted them to be all cute and match-y for church, so I started doing ties that coordinated with the dresses,” Galbraith said.

She said a perk of her designs is a making sister dresses that are cohesive with original pieces.

“For the most part, when I put out any line, everything comes in a sister dress (in matching sizes) as well,” Galbraith said.

Idaho Falls local Diane Walker said she’s a junky when it comes to buying outfits from Melon Monkeys. Walker has shopped with the company for some four years to get unique items for her now, 7-year-old granddaughter.

“She has really evolved as far as making lace leggings, and has adorable outfits. She works with other ladies that make bows so that you have the total package, you don’t have to go out and try to shop and match the outfit,” Walker said.

Galbraith says she draws inspiration for her pieces from things in her everyday life she finds colorful. Mixing and pairing color schemes is one of her favorite things to do. She said people from everywhere have ordered and are wearing her colorful collections worldwide.

“I love what I do. I enjoy it. I love creating things and seeing them in action. It’s fun to make for my own kids as well as other people who want something different,” Galbraith said.

To find some of Galbraith’s outfits go to her website or Facebook page. Galbraith said she can customize any order, and can make men’s ties or custom adult sized orders upon request.
