Local salon has bar theme

IDAHO FALLS — A local salon wants to give its customers a classy out-on-the town feel.

“All of our stuff is bar themed. So the names of our blowouts (include) Tom Collins, merlot, whiskey sour, the daiquiri and Long Island sweet tea. The standard pedicure is a limeade, and the spa pedicure is a mojito,” said The Beauty Bar owner Ashley Rodgers.

Salon chairs and mirrors are sequenced around the salon’s wooden bar, its central feature. Menus or service options are set out along the bar, and styling materials are in view of the customers.

“Most salons have their dispensary for color in a back room. I thought to put all the color and developers and everything behind the bar, so my girls can mix color behind the bar the way a bartender mixes drinks behind the bar,” Rodgers said.

Stylist Brooklyn Hill said she likes that the salon chairs are out in the open.

“I like how it’s all one — usually in salons it’s individual booths,” Hill said.

Customers also get free drinks.

“When everybody’s here they get a complimentary drink, whether that’s a Pepsi, Sprite, bottle of water, or beer or wine,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers said she also offers beverages like Capri Suns for children who are at the salon for their first haircut.

“Complimentary drinks are awesome. I love how we have music going or a show on,” Hill said. “It’s very comfortable here. It’s a fun environment where people can come and enjoy themselves.”
