Teen escapes major injuries after crashing into power pole
Published at | Updated atBONNEVILLE COUNTY — A teen driver dozed off and struck a power pole leaving a live wire across the Lewisville Highway early Friday morning.
Just after midnight, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to the one-vehicle accident.
The male teen driver was traveling north when he veered into the southbound lane and continued off the road until he struck a power pole and fence on the 6000 block of North 5th East.
The crash came to an end in the driveway of EastIdahoNews.com reporter Stephan Rockefeller.
“I heard a loud crash, rushed out the back door and was greeted by a confused teen and a totaled car,” Rockefeller says.
Traffic in both directions was stopped for about an hour while Rocky Mountain Power de-energized a live wire laying across the road.
The teen was treated for minor injuries on scene by paramedics and was later picked up by family members.
The power company stayed on scene to replace the power pole. Their work was completed around 6 a.m.
