IDAHO FALLS — A local asphalt is responding to complaints about their business practices.

Several local businesses claim Joles Asphalt scammed them on a parking lot paving projects.

But on Thursday, Aaron Tolson, a local attorney representing Charles Joles, made contact with EastIdahoNews.com and offered the following letter of explanation:

The owner of Joles Asphalt, Charles Joles, was out of town with his wife, and through a breakdown in communication and other misunderstandings, the job at issue was not handled to the customer’s satisfaction. Charles is working with the property owner who expressed that he is open to giving Joles Asphalt another chance to fix the parking lot to the satisfaction of the customer, and believes that with Charles Joles personally directing the project, the customer will be satisfied. Joles Asphalt asks East Idaho News or any other news outlet to report a successful resolution when that is completed, as soon as they are allowed to do so.

Charles Joles and his family have worked in asphalt in Idaho for 15 years, and have many pleased repeat customers. As with any business, there have been some exceptions to their usual happy customers, which is always regretted. Joles Asphalt and Charles Joles and his wife and 3 children will stay right here and continue working in the community, and honorably competing for paving business. They ask that they not be incorrectly associated with any out of state company using the name of Joles, as their reputation is the most important asset of this small Idaho business. While they are a small company, they try hard to do good work on smaller jobs at a cost effective price. References can be provided upon request.

Tim Colling, owner of Colling Pest Solutions, confirmed to EastIdahoNews.com that he is open to speaking to Joles Asphalt about a solution.

Officials with the Better Businesses Bureau of Idaho Falls say that Joles Asphalt business accreditation has been taken under review. As of Thursday afternoon the A+ rating Joles Asphalt had previously held had been removed.

According to the page, “This business has no rating at this time because BBB file information is being reviewed and/or updated.”
