PORTLAND — The remains of the missing daughter of Piano Guys’ Jon Schmidt were likely found Friday, Schmidt shared in a Facebook post.

Annie Schmidt, 21, hasn’t been seen since Oct. 16 when she went hiking in her home state of Oregon. Search efforts were called off Oct. 26.

Jon Schmidt announced Friday night that search dogs found human remains and the Schmidt family “can positively identify the clothing and personal items found at the site as belonging to Annie.”

“There is no (adequate) way to thank our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ for the support we have felt through you. You have searched with us, prayed with us, hoped with us, fasted with us, supported us and sacrificed for us,” the Facebook post read.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office released a statement Friday that said “human remains (have) been discovered off of a trail near the Tooth Rock Trailhead in the Columbia River Gorge.”

“Search and rescue crews and (sheriff’s) detectives worked through the afternoon to recover the remains,” the agency said.

The remains are now in the custody of the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Schmidt said police won’t release more information until they have “conclusive evidence.”
