Brad Stevens Denies Rumors He’s Going Back to the College Ranks

Brad Stevens Denies Rumors He’s Going Back to the College Ranks Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- As the Boston Celtics dive further and further into their rebuilding effort, head coach Brad Stevens has denied any rumors that he will eventually leave the team for a college job. “I’ve committed to being here,” Stevens told Paul Flannery of SB Nation. “I’ve already left a situation once and that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to choose to do. This is something that as long as they want me to be here, this is what I want to be doing and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got." As the team slips further into the standings, there have been whispers saying Stevens will jump ship back to the collegiate ranks -- specifically replacing Tom Cream at Indiana. "I know it’s all specific to the rumor mills and the discussion of one spot," Stevens continued. "I think they’ve got a good coach who’s done a helluva job. He doesn’t deserve that speculation." Stevens experienced tremendous success at Butler, which led him to being hired by the Celtics last season at the age of 36. He signed a six-year deal with the Celtics prior to the 2013-2014 season. Knicks Snap Skid with Win Over Boston Steve Russell/Toronto Star via Getty Images(BOSTON, Mass.) -- The New York Knicks finally snapped a 10-game losing streak on Friday night, defeating the Boston Celtics 101-95 on the road. It was the first win for New York (5-20) since beating Philadelphia back on Nov. 22 at Madison Square Garden. "It's always hard when you're climbing uphill, then you get that one game like today. Anthony cause some headlines, before leading his team with 22 points, when rumors swirled that the forward would be willing to waive his no-trade clause if the right situation presented itself. The 30-year-old told reporters before the game that those were just rumors. Anthony shot 9-for-20 in the win, pulling down five rebounds and blocking three shots. New York opened the game shooting well, holding a 26-19 lead after the first quarter, while their defense helped set the tone. Smart Carted Off in Celtics Win

Smart Carted Off in Celtics Win Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(BOSTON) -- Celtics guard Marcus Smart was carted off the court Friday night after injuring his left ankle in the fourth quarter of Boston's 101-98 win over Indiana. The rookie appeared to step on the Pacers Lavoy Allen and immediately went to the floor, clutching his left ankle. Team doctors rushed to his side before calling for a stretcher. His leg was immobilized and he was carted off the court, giving a thumbs up as he departed. "It was really scary and then, obviously, he was writhing in pain, so that makes it even more scary," coach Brad Stevens said. "We're hoping it's a sprain, but we don't know that. So obviously a great deal of concern for him, No. 1. And hopefully he can get back sooner rather than later because he's really playing great basketball." Smart was the 6th overall pick by the Celtics in this year's NBA draft and was averaging 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in the first four games of the season. Five players scored in double figures for Boston who improved to 2-3 while the Pacers dropped to 1-5 on the young season. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio
