Dolphins Shutout Chargers, 37-0

Dolphins Shutout Chargers, 37-0 Marc Serota/Getty Images(MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.) -- The Miami Dolphins forced four turnovers while Ryan Tannehill threw three touchdowns en route to a 37-0 trouncing of San Diego on Sunday. It was the eighth straight home win for Miami (5-3) over the Chargers (5-4), who have not won in South Florida since 1982. The win was an emotional one for Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin, whose father passed away on Friday, causing him to miss two days of practice. "I really have to give our assistant coaches and our players a ton of credit," said Philbin. "I kind of just showed up for the game." Miami's defense set the tone, forcing three interceptions and a fumble of Philip Rivers, while Tannehill racked up 288 yards in the win. Tannehill's three touchdown passes were to three different receivers while Lamar Miller also ran for a score in the Dolphins most lopsided win since 1995. "We're scratching the surface," Philbin said. "We certainly haven't put it all together yet." Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Dolphins Running Back Knowshon Moreno Out for Season

Dolphins Running Back Knowshon Moreno Out for Season Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- After just three games in his first season in Miami, Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Moreno returned to the Dolphins lineup Week 6 after missing the previous two games with an elbow injury. He carried the ball six times last Sunday for just ten yards before suffering the injury. The 27-year-old Moreno will finish this season with 148 rushing yards on 31 attempts and just one touchdown. After a career-year last season with the Denver Broncos, Moreno signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins during the offseason and was counted on to be their feature back. Taking over for Moreno will be third-year running back Lamar Miller. Fortunately for the Dolphins, Miller has been very effective in relief of Moreno. In five games this season, Moreno has 330 rushing yards on 63 carries while scoring 3 touchdowns. He also has 15 catches this season. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Raiders ‘Host’ Dolphins at Wembley Stadium

Raiders ‘Host’ Dolphins at Wembley Stadium Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images(LONDON) -- The Oakland Raiders will "host" the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.  Oakland was designated the "home" team for their game and both teams are looking forward to the opportunity of showcasing the NFL to new fans. Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr wants to get his first win of the season anyway possible. "I'll throw five touchdowns or five picks," Carr said Wednesday.  "I could care less, I just want to win, that's all this game is about, that's all that matters in the NFL." "It's a good football team," Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said of Miami. "They like to pressure the quarterback; we've got to understand what they're trying to do.  We've got to take care of the front-four; we've got to be able to make some plays down the field when we get some opportunities." The Raiders are coming off a 16-9 loss last week against New England. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Tannehill Dislikes How Philbin Handled Quarterback Question

Tannehill Dislikes How Philbin Handled Quarterback Question Leon Halip/Getty Images(DAVIE, Fla.) -- Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill isn't a fan of the way his head coach didn't declare him the starter for Sunday's game against the Raiders. Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin was asked multiple times this week if Tannehill would be the starting quarterback on Sunday, but the third-year head coach declined to respond. "Obviously, it doesn't feel good," Tannehill said when talking about Philbin's lack of response. "It creates a bunch of stir (and) a bunch of distraction in the locker room -- mostly from the outside coming in and guys having to deal with the distraction of it. So it's not a good feeling." Tannehill has said he has since talked with Philbin and it appears the 26-year-old will start Sunday in London. This is Tannehill's third season with the Dolphins. During that time, he has made 35 starts going 16-19, while completing 59.1% of his passes. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Dolphins Hand Pats First Opening Day Loss Since 2003

Dolphins Hand Pats First Opening Day Loss Since 2003 Comstock/Thinkstock(MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.) -- The Miami Dolphins scored 23 unanswered points in the second half to beat the New England Patriots 33-20 Sunday. It's the Patriots first opening week loss since 2003. After the Dolphins scored in the first drive of the game, the Patriots retaliated with 17 straight points, the last of them coming from a six yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski. The two teams then traded field goals and went into the half with the Pats leading by 10. The second half was all Dolphins. Miami quickly erased its 10 point deficit by scoring on its first three drives to take a 23-20 lead. The Patriots had multiple opportunities to retake the lead, but the Miami pass rush made sure Brady couldn't get into a groove. The Dolphins clinched the victory with 3:29 left in the game when running back Knowshon Moreno ran for a four yard touchdown. Moreno, who was playing in his first game as a Dolphin, rushed for 134 yards in the win. Gronkowski had four catches for 40 yards and a touchdown in his first game back since having surgery on his knee. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Dolphins Punish Don Jones for Negative Tweets About Michael Sam Stacy Revere/Getty Images(MIAMI) -- While many are welcoming newly drafted St. Louis Ram Michael Sam into the NFL, Miami Dolphins cornerback Don Jones is being punished by the team for his negative tweets following Sam getting drafted. After Sam was drafted, Jones tweeted "OMG" and "horrible." He later deleted the tweets. Sam, who is the NFL's first openly gay player, was drafted by the Rams in the seventh round. For his actions, the team has fined Jones an undisclosed amount of money and have excused him from the team until he finishes educational training. Jones later apologized for his comments. "I want to apologize to Michael Sam for the inappropriate comments that I made last night on social media," Jones said. "I take full responsibility for them and I regret that these tweets took away from his draft moment." "I remember last year when I was drafted in the seventh round and all the emotions and happiness I felt when I received the call that gave me an opportunity to play for an NFL team that I wish him all the best in his NFL career," he continued. Jones is entering his second season with the Dolphins, and made 10 tackles last season during his rookie year. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio
