Missouri Upsets (13) South Carolina on the Road

Banana Stock/Getty Images(COLUMBIA, S.C.) — One week after losing a game in the waning moments, the Missouri Tigers used a late drive to knock off No. 13 South Carolina on Saturday. The Tigers (4-1) trailed 20-7 in the fourth but scored twice in the final seven minutes to complete the upset.

“When things got tough, we stayed positive. The defense kept us in it but we stayed totally positive with the offense the whole time,” said head coach Gary Pinkel.

After Russell Hansbrough scored in the first quarter to give Missouri a 7-0 lead, the Gamecocks (3-2) held their opponnent of the board until the fourth. Meanwhile, South Carolina reeled off 20 straight points to take a commanding lead late.

Pharoh Cooper caught a 23-yard pass from Dylan Thompson to give the Gamecocks a 13-point lead with 7:25 remaining. Just 36 seconds later, Maty Mauk and the Tigers completed their first scoring drive of the rally with a Hansbrough one-yard touchdown run. Missouri got the ball back and again watched as Hansbrough bullied his way into the endzone for the go-ahead score.

The running back finished the game with three rushing touchdowns, carrying the ball just 10 times for 43 yards.

Indiana Knocks Off (18) Missouri

Indiana Knocks Off (18) Missouri

ThinkStock(COLUMBIA, Mo.) — D’Angelo Roberts’ three-yard touchdown run with 22 seconds remaining put Indiana ahead 31-27, giving the Hoosiers (2-1) a win over 18th-ranked Missouri on Saturday. It was just the fourth win over an AP-ranked non-conference team in program history.

Neither team held more than a one-score advantage. The Tigers (3-1) scored 10 straight points in the second half, taking a 27-24 lead on Andrew Baggett’s 40-yard field goal. However, the reigning Southeastern Conference West champions couldn’t hold off the offense of the Hoosiers.

Indiana went 75 yards in just six plays to pull off the upset. Tevin Coleman rushed for 132 total yards, including a 44-yard scamper that set up the winning score.

“It was a really big win,” said Coleman, who missed the final 20 minutes of the first half with cramps. “We came out here with fire. We played until the end.”

Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk tossed for 326 yards and two scores to pace the Tigers, while Russell Hansbrough ran for 119 yards.
