Odell Beckham Jr. Obliterates Redskins

Odell Beckham Jr. Obliterates Redskins

Win McNamee/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The New York Giants found a gem with their first round pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Odell Beckham Jr. racked up 143 yards on 12 catches, including three touchdowns, Sunday on way to a Giants 24-13 victory. Beckham had a fourth that was negated because of a holding penalty.

After missing the first four games of the season, Beckham has quickly racked up 71 catches for 972 yards and nine touchdowns.

"I don't want to get his head too big right now, but he has a lot of skill," Eli Manning said. "You hope he keeps working and grinding and doing the little things to correct. There is still room for improvement."

Colt McCoy got the start for the Redskins but quickly exited after re-injuring his neck on the opening series.

Robert Griffin III entered and found a groove early. He found Christian Thompson for a nine yard touchdown early in the second quarter. Griffin nearly found the end zone again when he called his own number but after an official replay was ruled to have fumbled the ball before crossing the pylon. The Redskins seemed to go into a funk after that play.

Griffin finished 18 of 27 for 236 yards.

"It's not been a fun year," Griffin said. "We've had a lot of turmoil, a lot of things going on. At the end of the day, you suit up and when your number's called, be ready to play."

Redskins Bench RGIII for McCoy

Redskins Bench RGIII for McCoy

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(ASHBURN, Va) -- Push has come to shove as the Redskins have decided to bench Robert Griffin III in favor of Colt McCoy this Sunday when Washington will face Indianapolis.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Griffin will not play this weekend, but remains a part of the team's long term plans.

Griffin has struggled this season. He has missed six games after suffering a dislocated ankle in week 2. In the five games he has started, Griffin has completed 69.7% of his passes for 869 yards while throwing two touchdowns and three interceptions. Additionally, he has been sacked 16 times. The team is 1-4 in those five starts.

McCoy made his only start of the season against the Dallas Cowboys on October 27. He completed 25 of 30 passes for 299 yards with one interception and a rushing touchdown in a game that saw the Redskins defeat the Cowboys 20-17.

Jay Gruden Puts the Pressure on Robert Griffin III

Jay Gruden Puts the Pressure on Robert Griffin III

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Jay Gruden's first year as the head coach of the Washington Redskins isn't going as smoothly as he had hoped, and now he's speaking out against his quarterback, Robert Griffin III.

In four starts this season, Griffin has yet to resemble the same player who electrified the NFL during his rookie year in 2012 as he's dealt with various injuries and ineffectiveness.

The Redskins won the NFC East in 2012, but have gone just 6-20 since. Gruden is putting the heat on Griffin to step up and perform like the player the franchise drafted him to be.

"He's auditioned long enough," Gruden told NFL.com. "Clock's ticking. He's gotta play.

"We'll see. ... We want Robert to excel, we really do. But the last two games, it hasn't been very good, anywhere. We gotta play better around him. And the biggest thing for us as playcallers, and for him, we just have to come together and jell with plays he's comfortable with. That takes time. But we don't have a lot of time."

Griffin has thrown just two touchdown this season to go along with four turnovers.

Vikings Defeat Redskins 29-26 in Griffin’s Return

Vikings Defeat Redskins 29-26 in Griffin’s Return

Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images(MINNEAPOLIS, MN) -- Sunday marked the return of Robert Griffin III as quarterback of the Washington Redskins.

The Vikings were not impressed, as they beat up the Redskins 29-26 at home.

Rookie Teddy Bridgewater continues to improve as he led four scoring drives, three of which were capped by Matt Asiata touchdown runs.  Bridgewater finished the day 26-42 for 268 yards and one touchdown pass.

Griffin had a good day, but it wasn't good enough. He was 18-28 for 251 yards and one touchdown, but was also sacked five times and threw an inteception. There were good signs, though, for the former second overall pick, who had missed the last six weeks with a dislocated ankle.

The Vikings now move to 4-5 as they continue to play hard for rookie head coach Mike Zimmer.  The loss sends the Redskins to 3-6.

Robert Griffin III Exits with Dislocated Ankle

Robert Griffin III Exits with Dislocated Ankle

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(LANDOVER, Md.) -- The Washington Redskins (1-1) dominated Jacksonville, 41-10 on Sunday, but did it without starting quarterback Robert Griffin III. The third-year signal caller was carted off the field after suffering a dislocated ankle in the first quarter.

Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins played admirably in relief, throwing for 250 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Jaguars (0-2).

Griffin is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, but could miss the remainder of the season.

"I'm just trying to stay in a good place," said Griffin. "Our spirits are high. We're always thinking positive. We'll see what happens tomorrow and whatever information comes out, we'll know what the timetable is from there."

This marks the second time in his career that Griffin faces a potential season-ending injury. In 2012, Griffin suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, forcing him to miss the final four games of the regular season.

Jadeveon Clowney Prepares for Robert Griffin III

Jadeveon Clowney Prepares for Robert Griffin III

Cliff Hawkins/Getty Images(HOUSTON) -- Texans rookie linebacker Jadeveon Clowney is good to go on Sunday and is looking forward to playing in his first NFL regular season game against the Washington Redskins.

Clowney will have a tough task at hand in running down quarterback Robert Griffin III.

"One of the best running quarterbacks in the league I think," Clowney said of RG3. "You gotta be ready to contain him in the pocket because he can get out there and cause havoc, he can run pretty fast."

"I'm just treating it like another game," the first-overall pick said Thursday. "Just go out there and take one play at a time and just do my assignment."

Clowney said his entire family will be in attendance, but he isn't worried about any added pressure during his regular season debut.

"I'm not really nervous, I'm just ready to get to it," Clowney said.  "Something I've been waiting for my whole life."

Clowney missed the final two preseason games, but had three tackles for a loss, a sack and a quarterback hit in the first two games against the Cardinals and Falcons.
