REXBURG — After 36 years in business, Wendy’s on 2nd East in north Rexburg will close Sunday and the restaurant will re-open an updated, modern location this fall.

“We are excited for this new location and appreciate all the years of business in our current location. There are many memories there and we will miss the old building,” says Robert Pincock, the co-owner of Classic Foods.

Wendy’s opened at 545 North 2nd East in 1985. A location for the new restaurant has not been announced but it will be in the same area and have multiple seating options, including private booths, lounge areas and a Wifi bar, according to Pincock.

The rebuild is part of the Wendy’s Image Activation initiative, which includes remodeling and building restaurants in communities across the country.

“The new location will have features that are new to the Wendy’s system and we are proud to bring another location to my hometown of Rexburg,” Pincock says. “Our ultimate goal is for our customers to have the best dining experience and we think they will be surprised and excited about their new Wendy’s.”

Employees at the north Rexburg Wendy’s will work at other locations until the new restaurant opens. The restaurant at 1117 South Yellowstone Highway remains open and discounts are being offered through Wendy’s mobile app.
