(Miami) — Eric Spoelstra is going nowhere. The Miami Heat signed Spoelstra to a contract extension after taking the Heat to the NBA Finals last year.
Spoelstra was entering the last year of his deal. Details of the extension have not been realeased.
Heat President Pat Riley commented on the matter saying, “We have one of the great young coaches in the league and (he) is an absolute member of this family. He’s the perfect coach for this team now. The reason why we did it was to extend him and keep him in the family and (not) have somebody come steal him away from us.”
Spoelstra started his career with the Heat 17 years ago working in the video room.
