(DALLAS) — With the NBA season set to begin on Christmas Day, there are numerous storylines surrounding the league. Will the Heat win the championship? Are the Knicks for real? Are the Clippers elite? One storyline that seems to be undersold is whether or not the Dallas Mavericks can repeat as NBA champions. Mavericks forward Shawn Marion thinks the team needs to be getting more attention.
“We earned everything we did last year,” Marion said. “Everybody on this team earned the right to be addressed as world champions so everyone needs to address them like that.”
While Marion gave a pass to the local media, he went on to say that the national media has been quick to already crown the Miami Heat — who the Mavericks beat the finals in six games — are the team to beat. Marion feels that the Mavericks should be labeled as the team to beat, since they are the defending champions.
