Holland Signs Five-Year Deal with Rangers

Major League Baseball(SURPRISE, Ariz) — Pitcher Derek Holland and the Texas Rangers agreed to a five-year $25 million deal on Tuesday.

Holland, 25, will receive $1 million this year, $3.2 million next year, $5.4 million in 2014, $7.4 million in 2015 and $10 million in 2016.

“I’m very excited to be a part of this,” Holland said. “We’ve got an unbelievable team. We’ve got upcoming stars coming up in the organization and I want to be a part of that as well.”

Last season, Holland went 16-5 with an ERA of 3.95 and had 162 strikeouts in 198 innings pitched.
