“Mad Men” Premiere Pulls in Biggest Audience in Series History
Published at(NEW YORK) — Mad Men fans clearly didn’t jump off the bandwagon during the show’s extended hiatus.
The two-hour season premiere of Mad Men on Sunday night averaged 3.5 million viewers, the AMC drama’s biggest audience to date, according to Deadline.com. Nearly one million additional viewers tuned in to an encore presentation of the episode later that night.
The season premiere was the first new episode of the Emmy-winning series in a year and a half. It immediately drew buzz for a saucy performance by Don Draper’s new wife, Megan, of the early 1960s French song “Zou Bisou Bisou” during his surprise 40th birthday party.
Draper, the generally-unfaithful ad exec, is played by Jon Hamm.
