EchoHawk to Resign, Focus on Church Service
Published at | Updated at(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) – Former Idaho Attorney General Larry EchoHawk is stepping down as head of the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs. In an announcement Saturday, the 63-year-old EchoHawk said he was resigning to serve as a Mormon general authority. EchoHawk was appointed to the LDS Church’s First Quorum of the Seventy during its semi-annual General Conference in Salt Lake City over the weekend. EchoHawk’s associates, including Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, praised his career as a role model for Democrats and Native Americans.
