Obama Budget Proposal Irks Local Aviators
Published at | Updated at
(RIGBY) – President Barack Obama’s budget proposal for next year calls for a $100 tax on every flight. If approved, the fee would apply to general aviation operators, and will generate an estimated $7 billion over the next decade. Brandon Visser, an agricultural pilot for Visser Ag Inc., tells KIDK that the tax could leave his business with a $400,000 yearly bill. The tax does not apply to Military, piston aircraft, or planes operating outside controlled air space. Gov. Butch Otter is opposing the tax, saying it puts an unfair burden on businesses, large and small.
