“I actually go the round going on the second hole,” Hanson said. “I hit a nice drive and a three wood to the middle of the green, two putted for birdie and then kind of eased into the round. From there I was just trying to do the boring stuff. Tried to hit every shot. Just put it in play off the tee, hit greens and give myself some good chances. It was just one of those rounds that turned into a great round.”

While Hanson had a fantastic round, Phil Mickelson’s round was almost as good. Lefty shot a 6-under 66 and is one stroke back of Hanson for the tournament.

“I just feel real confident in the way I’ve been playing, the way I’ve been putting, and in this setting and on this golf course,” Mickelson said.

Tiger Woods shot even-par 72 and is 12 shots off the lead.

Mickelson and Hanson will play in the final pairing Sunday. The bad news for Hanson is, the last three times Mickelson has been in the final pairing at Augusta, Phil has won.
